A mountain hike to the Fort du Claous (2104m) from the Tournoux village
(1492m) in summer 2003, Ubaye Valley, France.
Departure: From Tournoux climb on a small trail through
Bois de Tournoux (Champasses) to the east and
then in elevation 1845m, follow the road to the north.
Return to Tournoux via the Cassoun forest in the east of the fort
and via the hikingtrail GR 6-56.
difference in elevation: 800m, including the visit of the three round observation
stations on the ridge of the Tete de Cassoun mountain above the fort. Time: 7h.
The Fort itself can't be visited and all entries are blocked.
